Magic Items #1-4
I made some magic items.
Veritas, the Spear of Truth
A 4-foot spear with a head of pitted iron. A Roman cross dangles from twine around the neck.
The spear largely functions as a normal one of its kind, albeit sharper and sturdier than its age would suggest.
However inert it may seem, the spear holds its own convictions, valuing truth above all else. Should this spear be thrust at something that it deems deceitful or false in any way, it will pierce through and impale this target as if punching through paper. Armor, warding, and density mean nothing to Veritas if belonging to a liar.
It should be noted that "false" is not synonymous with evil. A bandit threatening to kill you and take your money is a scoundrel, but an honest one. Your sparring partner who pulls his punches to spare you a defeat, however, may find himself skewered for his mercy. Illusions are immediately dispelled when struck with Veritas.
If Veritas' carrier lies, to themselves or to others, the spear will become lost as soon as is possible. It may not be carried again until the truth has come out.
Giant-Forged Gauntlet
An ornamental gauntlet fitted for the left hand, made of interlocking plates of some indiscernible alloy. A word of some Gargantuan language is inscribed on the back of the wrist. When spoken aloud, the gauntlet's weight increases one hundred-fold in an instant. When the word is spoken again, the gauntlet returns to its normal weight.
If the command word is instead whispered, the gauntlet becomes as light as a feather. To shout the word from this state will suddenly bring it to its heaviest.
Origami Shield
A buckler shield made from large sheafs of folded paper into an ornate shape. It is largely useless as a shield, offering no armor bonus. However, if the shield is "sundered" or otherwise destroyed, it will crumple and refold itself.
If left in the hand of the wielder, it will fold itself and reshape into a facsimile of the weapon that struck it, be it wielded or natural. If the weapon was magical, the sword will do its best to mimic the effect, recreating it on a 2-in-6. It will not replicate fire.
If the shield is instead cast to the ground, it will refold itself into a replica of the attacker that sundered it (if applicable). It will fight with the same techniques and tactics, though it will possess only 1HD and no armor.
Any fire damage instantly destroys the shield in any form it takes.
Welding Rings
Two brass wedding bands. When each ring is worn by a separate entity, the wearers will be mentally and physically compelled towards each other. Once they meet, they will begin to merge into one being. Depending on how compatible they are (both anatomically and in their star signs), this can take anywhere from minutes to days. If one of the wearers is dead or inanimate, there is a 50% chance the living wearer dies as well.
The resulting chimera will have the average hit points of both of its parents, same with ability scores. Any supernatural traits unique to one parent, such as darkvision, have a 2-in-6 chance of persisting in the new form. The rings may be removed safely at this point.
Do not attempt to wed a chimera.
